Wasp and Hornet Control

Wasps, Yellow Jackets and Hornets (we will refer to all of them as wasps on the rest of this page) can take over your yard and make it difficult to really enjoy your yard and patio. Left untreated, their populations can grow to hundreds just in your yard. We can help!

Complete Wasp Control

We spray a liquid insecticide on all of the areas that wasps like to build nests. This includes by your gutters, under your eves, behind shutters, deck railings and other areas. This insecticide will leave an invisible residue everywhere we spray, which will kill wasps and hornets when they come in contact with it. Once dry, the treatment is safe for people and pets. It is non-staining, odorless, and is EPA-approved for use in commercial, residential and public places. We will also get rid of all nests that we can at the time of service.

In most cases, two treatments will be all that is needed for the entire season. Since most areas that wasps like to build nests are protected from the elements, that residue will last much longer than it does for our other outdoor Pest Control Services.

Great discounts when done along with a mosquito control treatment

We use the same insecticide to control mosquitoes, and when spraying for mosquitoes, we spray some of the same areas that we spray with our wasp control. For this reason, we can offer substantial discounts when we do your wasp treatment at the same time as the mosquito control.

If you are signed up for our season long mosquito control, one wasp control treatment in the spring is all you will need because we will spray any wasp nest we find during the remainder of the season.

Our wasp control services

  1. Wasp Nest Control – We will spray any wasp nests we find in your yard. If you have the season long mosquito control program, this service is included free of charge. (During the treatment we will NOT remove nests, as we want the wasps using those nests to return and land on the nest, which will kill them. You can remove the nests 2-4 days later if you wish.)

  2. Complete Wasp Control – With our Complete Wasp Control service we spray areas that wasps typically build nests, to help prevent any wasps from establishing residence in your yard. Typically, two treatments will be enough to get you through the season. If you are taking advantage of our mosquito season long protection program, you may only need one Complete Wasp Control treatment per year. After this, we will do any necessary wasp nest control services free of charge during the mosquito treatments.

Here is what you can expect from our service:

Like all of our services, it is almost impossible to kill every wasp coming into your yard before you see them. As the wasp entering your yard land to build a nest, they will come in contact with the insecticide and die. For this reason, you may see the occasional wasp flying around, but what you won't see is large numbers of wasps making your yard their home. Once a wasp lands on any area treated by our product, it will die.

Below is some information about common wasps and hornets in Wisconsin.

Yellow Jackets

Yellow JacketWasp NestYellow Jackets are social wasps that cooperate to build and defend their queen and colony.  They are the uninvited guest at picnics who get into soda cans.  Their nests are an upside-down teardrop-shaped nest constructed from gray paper with a single hole on the bottom.  These nests can be found in trees, shrubs, under decks, or high in the eaves.

Paper Wasps

Paper WaspWasp NestPaper Wasps have a segmented slim body.  They will nest practically anywhere: in eave peaks, behind shutters, under deck railings, in gas grills, light fixtures, mailboxes etc.  Their nests are rather small and can be found in any little nook or cranny.  Paper Wasps, like the Yellow Jacket have a painful sting, and can sting more than once.

Mud Dauber Wasps

Mud Dauber WaspWasp NestMud Dauber Wasps are slender; they are shiny black or brown, orange or yellow, with black markings.  Many have long slender thread-like waists.  Unlike the Yellow Jacket and Paper Wasp, they are not aggressive, and will not sting unless aggravated.  Their nests are tube-like mud structures and can be found in protected places such as against house siding and under porch ceilings.

Bumble Bees

Bumble Bee
Bumble bees are social insects that live in colonies.  They are reluctant to sting, but will defend their nest.  Because they are pollinators, they should only be exterminated if in an undesirable location.
