Box Elder Bug, Asian Beetle and Stink Bug Control
How does your treatment work?
Will I still get Box Elder Bugs and Asian Beetles in my house in the winter?
Is it safe for children and pets?
We apply a liquid application to your lawn, bushes, and other vegetation around your yard, and the lower branches of trees. We also apply to the underside of decks and other areas where mosquitoes hide. This is a contact killer; as the mosquitoes and ticks come into contact with the sprayed surfaces, they die. The application will leave an invisible and odorless residue that will keep on killing the mosquitoes and ticks for up to 60 days. The length of time that the residue will stay on sprayed surfaces will vary depending on several variables, mainly the weather. Here in Wisconsin, you can expect it to remain effective for at least 3-6 weeks.
Will your product work on a small yard?
Yes. Although you may find more mosquitoes coming in from your neighbors' yards, once they land on any treated surface, they will die. We make sure to treat all of the areas that mosquitoes are likely to land on to eliminate them as quickly as possible once they cross that lot line. For maximum protection, we suggest that you talk to your neighbors about getting their yard treated as well. We offer a $10 discount to you for each new referral that uses our service.
Will your product get rid of wasps?
Yes. Our treatment is extremely effective in killing wasps. In fact, the application is effective in eliminating or controlling dozens of different insects, including ants, mosquitoes, wasps, carpenter ants, ticks and bees. Please note that if you are having mosquito control done, there may be an extra charge for treating the areas where the wasps like to place their nests.
Does it wash off when it rains?
Eventually it will; however, the application will last through normal amounts of rain. The length of time that the residue will stay on sprayed surfaces will vary depending on several variables, mainly the weather. Here in Wisconsin, you can expect it to remain effective for about 6 weeks during normal weather conditions. During periods of heavy rainfall, it is possible that the effectiveness will diminish in less than 6 weeks (see our Guarantee).
The price will vary depending on what type and size area we are treating. It is hard to assign standard rates because of the vast differences in the type of area involved. If you fill out our Estimate Request Form we will email you an estimate for free.
When is the best time to have my yard treated?
The treatment can be done anytime; however, we recommend that you start in the spring, prior to the first outbreak of mosquitoes. This will kill the mosquitoes as soon as they start to hatch, reducing the number of eggs being laid in your yard. Reducing the number of eggs being laid is important because mosquito eggs can survive up to 7 years before hatching. Eliminating the eggs now will help with your mosquito problems for years to come. Consider this: if there was a 100% survival rate, a single mosquito could be responsible for over 1 billion mosquito descendants in under a month.
Will mosquitoes come into my yard from my neighbors' yards?
Yes, they will at times. Mosquitoes don’t fly very far on their own, but they are carried by the wind. On a breezy day, mosquitoes will be blown over and through your yard. Fortunately, it is hard for mosquitoes to land on you when it is breezy, but when the wind dies down, any mosquitoes in your yard will look for resting places. Our treatment is a contact killer; as the mosquitoes come into contact with the sprayed surfaces, they die. We spray all of the areas that mosquitoes are likely to land on to eliminate them as quickly as possible once they cross that lot line. You can expect that the vast majority of those mosquitoes will be eliminated within 30-60 minutes after the wind has died down. On a calm day, you will still get mosquitoes that cross your lot line, but you shouldn't even notice them because most of them will land on a treated area before coming into contact with you. You can also tell your neighbors about our service. We have a great referral program.
How effective is the treatment?
Over 90% of the mosquitoes will be gone before we are done treating your yard. Because the spray is designed to leave a residue on the sprayed surfaces, it will remain effective for up to 60 days. Keep in mind that this is a contact killer, so the mosquitoes have to land on a sprayed surface in order to be killed. That is why we spray all of the areas that mosquitoes are likely to land on.
How long will the treatment last?
The spray will leave an invisible and odorless residue that will keep on killing the mosquitoes for up to 60 days. The length of time that the residue will stay on sprayed surfaces will vary depending on several variables, mainly the weather. Here in Wisconsin, you can expect it to remain effective for about 6 weeks, (see Does it wash off when it rains?).
Is it safe for my children and pets?
Yes. Once the spray has dried (usually in less than on hour), your children and pets can enjoy the yard safely and comfortably. The product we use is a water-based formulation that is non-irritating, non-staining, and contains no odorous or plant-damaging solvents. It is EPA-registered and approved to control pests on residential, institutional, public, commercial, and industrial buildings, and lawns, ornamentals, parks, recreational areas and athletic fields. It is even approved to use indoors.
We spray a liquid insecticide on certain areas on the outside of your home and on the ground surrounding your home. This insecticide will leave an invisible residue everywhere we spray, which will kill both the Box Elder Bugs and Asian Beetles when they come in contact with it. This residue will last about 7 weeks in the fall, and about 5 weeks in the spring. The treatment is also effective in killing ants and spiders before they enter your home for the winter.
Will I still get Box Elder Bugs and Asian Beetles in my house in the winter?
Although the exterior treatment is very effective in killing both the Box Elder Bug, and Asian Beetle, it is almost impossible to prevent entry of every single bug or beetle. Our treatment should kill 95-99% of them before they have a chance to enter your home. If you see any in the house at all, it should be no more than just a few.
